Look at the spinning girl below . Is it spinning clockwise or counter-clockwise ? Some of my friends said that they saw it spinning clockwise, some said they saw it spinning counter-clockwise, and other said they saw both…

The spinning girl originally created by Nobuyuki Kayahara

I saw it spinning clockwise for the first time.. but then again it changed :P
So yeah i can see both of it :yay: , just by focusing on her legs and shadow.

So which brain that we used when we see it spins clockwise or counter-clockwise ? Well if it spins clockwise, you supposedly use more of your right brain, if it spins counter-clockwise you’re more of a left brain person.

But actually we can see the girl spinning both direction.. so it doesn’t have anything to do with differences in visual processing by the right and left sides of the brain. The spinning girl is an example of something called bistable perception (an object that can see in either 2 ways) or optical illusions.

And according to Steven Novella, an academic clinical neurologist at Yale University School of Medicine who blogs on NeuroLogica. When our brains process visual images to make some order or sense of the world, they have to make assumptions. The spinning girl is just a two dimensional image switching back and forth, but our brains process it as a three dimensional spinning object.

Nice. I think I use both the sides of my brain. I see it both ways. Now, is that a good sign?
